Rick Gawenda, P.T., graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Rick is currently Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Rick has worked in all areas of therapy within the hospital setting. In addition, he worked in home health care for 5 years. He has provided valuable education and consulting to hospitals, private practices, rehabilitation agencies, and his peers in the area of coding, billing, documentation, reimbursement, and the appeals process for Medicare denied claims as they relate to outpatient therapy services.

Mr Gawenda is the current President of the Section on Health Policy & Administration of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as the President of the Michigan Association of Medical Program Rehabilitation Administrators.
